1-year Yoga Teachers Training Course - 2025
This comprehensive course covers a wide range of subjects, providing a solid foundation in yoga philosophy, lifestyle, asanas (postures), pranayama (breath control), mudra (gestures), bandha (locks), kriya (cleansing techniques), anatomy and physiology, and more.
Yogam Yoga runs its course over the year to give aspirant Yoga teachers a deep and profound knowledge of the spiritual aspects of yoga which cannot be touched on in a traditional 200-hour yoga teachers course.
With experienced instructors and a supportive learning environment, this course will empower you to deepen your own yoga practice and share the gift of yoga with others.
Cost of Yoga Teacher's Training course covers the cost of the teaching material only. All tuition is given to you for FREE over the year.

IMPORTANT
- FEE: R1200 (This covers the cost of your teaching material. Tuition is FREE.)
- Course duration is from February to December 2025 on Saturdays from 7 am - 11 am. (excluding SA school holidays)
- Our instructors give of their time and expertise to you for free (seva). This is why the course fee is so low. Respect needs to be given to your instructors for this by attending ALL classes.
- In return for the gift given to you, Yogam Yoga asks qualified teachers to give back of their time with selfless service (seva) to our organisation.
- You must attend at least 3 classes a week at Yogam Yoga - preferably 6 classes a week - to build your yoga discipline.
- We have a strict policy of non attendance. If you fail to attend the prescribed classes, you will be removed from the course.(You are free to go on holiday during the government school holidays but NOT during the school term time.)
COURSE OUTLINE
1. Yoga Philosophy & Lifestyle:
Explore the meaning of yoga, delve into yoga philosophy, learn about the Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali, understand the three gunas of nature, explore the concept of the five koshas (layers of being), and discover the principles of the yogic diet.
2. Schools of Yoga:
Gain insight into various schools of yoga, including Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Japa Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga.
3. The Yoga Teacher:
Learn about the role and responsibilities of a yoga teacher, understand the guidelines for yoga practice, differentiate yoga from exercise, develop your voice as a yoga teacher, and discover the importance of creating effective yoga sequences.
4. Yoga Asana:
Explore the beauty and meaning of asanas, learn about different types of asanas and their benefits, practice warming up exercises, study the YOGAM YOGA Foundation Series, master Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), and learn a variety of standing, kneeling, prone, supine, arm-balancing, seated, twisted, and inversion postures.
5. Pranayama:
Understand the concept of pranayama (breath control), explore the three components of pranayama, learn about important nadis (energy channels), practice full yogic breath, and master various pranayama techniques such as Nadi Shodhana, Ujjayi, Bhastrika, Kapalabhati, Sheetali, Sheetakari, and Bhramari.
6. Mudra, Bandha & Kriya:
Discover the meaning and purpose of mudras (hand gestures), bandhas (energy locks), and kriyas (cleansing techniques), practice Jalandhara Bandha, Moola Bandha, Ashwini Mudra, Uddiyana Bandha, Maha Bandha, Agnisar Dhauti, Nauli, and Trataka.
7. Awareness:
Chakras, Kundalini Energy: Cultivate awareness in your yoga practice, explore the concept of Kundalini energy, and dive into the study of the chakras (energy centers).
8. Anatomy & Physiology:
Understand the human body, explore the digestive system, endocrine system, skeletal system, muscular system, respiratory system, circulatory system, and cardiovascular system in relation to yoga practice.
9. Patanjali Yoga Sutras:
Study the wisdom of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, including the Samadhi Pada (concentration), Sadhana Pada (practice), Vibhuti Pada (experiences), and Kaivalya Pada (absolute freedom).
10. Mantras:
Explore the power of mantras, learn the opening and closing mantras, practice the Surya Mantra and Pavamana Mantra, and more
