Our Seva Projects

Seva, meaning “selfless service,” is a core principle in yoga and reflects the practice of offering support, kindness, and compassion without expecting anything in return. It is a way of cultivating humility, devotion, and a deep sense of connection with others.

At Yogam Yoga, our Seva work focuses on uplifting disadvantaged communities through practical, meaningful support. From feeding programmes to literacy and school‑based yoga initiatives, our projects provide both immediate relief and long‑term empowerment. Through this work, we aim to strengthen community wellbeing, restore dignity, and create opportunities for growth across Durban.

Literacy Projects

Literacy Projects

Our Literacy Project supports children in under‑resourced communities by strengthening foundational reading, writing, and comprehension skills through weekly, relationship‑based sessions. We currently run two active programmes at St Martin’s and Ocean View Primary, where learners receive consistent support, encouragement, and tools to grow in confidence and capability.
Feeding Programmes

Feeding Programmes

Our Feeding Programmes provide nourishing meals to children in our Literacy Projects and to individuals experiencing homelessness, ensuring that no one we serve faces the challenges of hunger alone. By offering food with dignity, warmth, and compassion, we support wellbeing, learning, stability, and a sense of human connection.

School Yoga

School Yoga

Our school‑based Yoga Programme introduces children in disadvantaged communities to movement, breathwork, and mindfulness practices that support emotional regulation, focus, and physical wellbeing. These sessions help learners build resilience, confidence, and a deeper sense of inner stability.
